Welcome to brenPhotography’s Clickin with Brenda blog: Local Business Spotlight. This feature highlights local businesses. Here you can learn not only about their services, as well as the personalities behind them. I love meeting these business owners and learning more about them while photographing them for updated headshots, family, or glamour portraits.
Today, Blanche Gottel is the focus. Blanche is the Plant Lady of Bucks County. Are your indoor plants looking a little sad? How about the plants in your office? Wondering what to do outside? Blanche has your answers. You can learn how to plant your own ivy topiary with the Plant Lady of Bucks County at Twining Village on Saturday April 18.
You can learn more below and then visit The Plant Lady of Bucks County website and facebook page.

Tell me a little about your business
Simply put, The Plant Lady provides care and maintenance services for interior plants installed in a commercial or residential setting. Plantscaping services are also available.
How & when did you get started?
I have a passion for growing houseplants and gardening outside in the summer. Since I had consistent success growing and maintaining houseplants, I was encouraged to start my own interior plant care business. So, I've traded in my business suit, high heels and attaché case for blue jeans, sneakers and a watering can!
The Plant Lady of Bucks County was open for business the latter part of 2014.
What is your business best known for?
Customer service and our vision statement sums this up nicely:
“To achieve optimum results in the care and maintenance of houseplants
with a focus on exceeding our customers’ expectations.”
What is something interesting about your business that your customers might not know?
In addition to my business commitments, I dedicate time for pro bono work. My current work is focused on senior citizens living in continuing care facilities where I present a plant potting demonstration and donate/raffle a free plant to the residents. The enjoyment this brings to me and the smiles I see on their faces can’t be measured in dollars and cents. It’s all about “giving back”!
Life long credo:
Be a risk taker and a positive thinker. Be open to new ideas and experiences and don’t be afraid of failure during your life’s journey. We all learn and grow from our past experiences.
On my day off I love to…..
Do typical “girly” stuff. Shop, manicure/pedicure, haircut, etc., etc., etc. But I also love to visit garden centers, arboretums, attend horticultural workshops, go to movies/theatre, read spy novels or tear-jerker love stories, dine out with friends and entertain. There just isn’t enough time in the day!
I can’t start my day until…
I have a piping hot cup of coffee in hand!
You’ll never see me without
My cell phone. Since I’m out and about, it’s important to keep in touch with clients and generally “stay connected”. What did we ever do before?
What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do?
General car maintenance.
Why did you need a headshot?
I needed to update my headshot to capitalize on WHO I am as a business woman embarking on this new chapter in my life.
How did you feel about your Business Portrait experience with brenPhotography?
Well, where do I begin? “The” Brenda (of brenPhotography) is such a nice person and a real hoot! While she is a true professional and takes her job very seriously, Brenda puts a fun spin on having your picture taken. Unless you were a model in a previous life, having your picture taken can be a little unnerving.
During the inquiry and reservation stage, Brenda provides you with a lot of information about this experience and sets the expectation level for your portrait sitting. She recommends bringing several clothing selections with you and can also provide onsite professional hair and makeup services.
Once you arrive at her studio, Brenda immediately puts you at ease. If you are a little nervous while having your picture taken, she’ll tell a couple of jokes and antidotes to make you laugh and get that sought after natural smile!
I truly enjoyed my portrait session with brenPhotography and I think my pictures reflect that!
It's about shining from the inside...
