Decision fatigue is real
I don’t know about you but for me the last few weeks have felt at times uncertain, at times inspiring and at times filled with the creative energy of reinvention.
Normally I'd describe myself as a "high performer" - making decisions about work/kids/life throughout the day - but last week and the week before it felt like I was SO slow and was having trouble making even small decisions!
This decision fatigue, combined with the pressure we’re putting on ourselves to make smart, safe choices for ourselves, our families and our communities, can lead to pandemic-specific burnout.
Even high-performers aren't immune! Check out this quote from Barack Obama from Vanity Fair: “You’ll see I only wear grey or blue suits. I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.”
So what can we do?
Lean into routines (and checklists - my brain is mush). Let go of non-essentials. Simplifying the meal planning. Pick the tasks that will get the best results.
Simplify your choices... Don't feel compelled to make a different recipe every day if that's not what helps you relax! It's ok to have the same thing for breakfast every day for a few days in a row and then swap and repeat. How you can reduce the time required to make some of the decisions you face every day?
Here’s the thing. We are all doing the best we can.
Hang in there. You’ve got this!

Just because:
While the reserve and the immediate environs are closed, there are plenty of flowers in the surrounding area. Be respectful (including to the flowers—leave them as they are), stay on paths, and always keep your distance from others.
